Our Church was organized in 1889. The covenant in the main sanctuary reads: "In honor of the Free Christian Pioneers of Underwood a number Underwood area Scandinavian Pioneers, inspired by the writings of Unitarian Kristofer Janson and motivated by a deep yearning for responsible freedom organized the free Christian Church of Underwood in 1889 and United in a covenant which states simply: In the Love of Truth and the Spirit of Jesus We join for the worship of God and the service of Man.
