Twin Lakes Southern Baptist Church

1100 Poplar Drive
574-583-2561

About Us:

This "Southern Baptist Fellowship", as it was known in the beginning, began on October 20, 1993. There were 9 people present at this first Bible Study.

In February 1994, Twin Lakes Southern Baptist Church was chosen as the official name, and we rented a storefront at 109 N. Main St to worship in. We had our first prayer meeting in the building on March 6, 1994. On April 10, we observed the first Lord's Supper, and had the first Baptism Service with our sponsoring church, Remington Baptist Church.

Twin Lakes Southern Baptist Church became a reality on June 6, 1996 when a motion was made that the Church constitute into a self-supporting, fully organized church. A Constitution Service of ordained pastors recommended the church be constituted into a Southern Baptist Church on Aug. 18, 1996. The church was constituted with 25 charter members. An interesting note is that our current pastor, Brother Ross Terry, served on the Constitution Council back in 1996, and actually made the motion that we be allowed to constitute into a church.

In Aug. 1998, the church called Rev. Ross Terry to be our pastor. The church immediately began searching for a building. In Oct. 1999, the members voted to purchase the present building at 1100 Poplar Dr. On Nov. 26, we were given possession of the building, and met for worship and Sunday School for the first time on Sunday, November 28. After much work by our 78 members, the building was dedicated to the Lord on Feb. 6, 2000.

Since every Baptist church seems to revolve around food, in Nov. 2001, it was decided to install a kitchen. By Feb. 2002, our kitchen was completed, and has been a great blessing.

In 2003, we added an Early Worship Service, because we have grown so much. In 2004, we called Pastor Jon Yeoman to be our new Youth Pastor. He and his wife Cindy passed the torch to Mark & Jan Back this past year, and they are doing a great job building our youth group, and leading young people to the Lord..

Under the leadership of Pastor Terry, our church continues to grow, and to look for new ways to minister to our church family and to our community. At this time, we have a total of 299 members. We are so excited that our membership continues to grow. This is why we have entered into The Lighthouse Project, to build a larger church right across the road from Walmart. The new building will feature expanded seating in the sanctuary, more parking, and more classrooms for Sunday School. Our ultimate goal is to reach people for Christ and to help them grow spiritually through Bible study and fellowship.
