Triangle Area Chinese American Society

About Us :
Founded on September 22, 1978, the Triangle Area Chinese American Society (TACAS) is the first and oldest organization serving Chinese Americans in the Triangle area. It is a non-political, non-profit, public education, cultural exchange, and public service organization.

From the outset, TACAS has been a busy organization supporting programs that promote Chinese language and cultural exchange among Chinese and with people of all ethnic, racial, and professional backgrounds. This includes working closely with Raleigh Chinese Language School, and supporting the TACAS Arts Center, the New millennium Playhouse, and Triangle Area Peking Opera Club. TACAS also offers a Book Club, Youth Group, Youth Symphony, and Rainbow Dance Club. TACAS information brochures are available in both Fnnlich and rt3"!?rlH5

TACAS membership is open to anyone who agrees with the mission and goals of the Society. As the population in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area has diversified, TACAS has welcomed new members of all racial and ethnic backgrounds. TACAS has more than 250 member families, mostly of Chinese heritage from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China, but also the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. In the last few years, TACAS has reached out to Families with Children from China, an organization for families who have adopted children from China. TACAS introduced a Chinese dance instructor for FCC to create its own Chinese dance program. FCC families enjoy special discounts at many TACAS events. Many TACAS youths serve as counselors to FCC's Camp China
