Roaring River State Park

Roaring River State Park

With a deep, narrow valley surrounded by a striking and rugged landscape, Roaring River State Park is one of Missouri’s most popular state parks.

Located in the southwest Ozark hills, Roaring River State Park is one of three state parks stocked with rainbow trout. Eager anglers flock to the park year round to try and catch their lunker trout.

The scenic setting makes everything more fun. The park has seven hiking trails, a swimming pool for cooling off, picnic tables for a leisurely lunch and a nature center to learn about the park.

For those wanting to spend the night, the park has many options. The campground has basic, electric and sewer/electric/water site. Rustic cabins are scattered throughout the park or guests may choose a modern room at the Emory Melton Inn and Conference Center. The center also boasts a full-service restaurant.

Fishing

Roaring River is known for its premier trout fishing. The river is stocked regularly by the park’s hatchery, which is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Fishing licenses and tags are available in the park store (located at the intersection of Route F and Hwy. 112 - more information on their website), which also sells fishing equipment, tackle, camping supplies and groceries. Staff at the tackle shop can also provide tips on how to be successful for the current fishing conditions.

Take your catch-of-the-day to the park’s cleaning and fillet station and enjoy fresh fish for your next meal.

The Fishing Permits, Seasons and Regulations and Fishing Report are provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Camping

Roaring River State Park offers basic, electric and sewer/electric/water campsites spread throughout three campgrounds. For a little extra space, try one of the park's family campsites.  There is also an organized group camp.

Camping is also available at Viney Creek Recreation Area.

Stop by the park store to stock up on whatever you need for your camping experience.

Picnic Areas

Bring the family for a day of outdoor fun. There are more than 50 picnic sites scattered throughout the park and a children’s playground facility located in the main picnic area. Picnic sites include tables and outdoor grills. Restrooms are nearby.

River Shelter, which is accessible to people with disabilities, can accommodate up to 60 guests, and CCC Shelter can accommodate up to 60 guests. Both shelters include outdoor grills, picnic tables, electrical outlets and restroom facilities and rent for $50 per day. There is water available within walking distance of the shelters.
