Mission Statement
The mission of Regional School District #16 is to create a better world by helping each student reach his or her highest potential.
Goal Statement
The goal of all education in the Region 16 Public Schools is to develop students who have the knowledge and skills to succeed in the 21st century. Our goal for each student is to meet the highest standards and to learn to his or her greatest potential. We need to ensure that all of our students will become self-directed learners, quality workers, confident and competent individuals, and contributing citizens in both the local and global community.
Faculty and staff, parents, and community members are important partners in this educational endeavor. We are proud of our achievements and the progress we are making each year to help our students acquire the qualities necessary to be the leaders of tomorrow.
Five Years Goals
Based on the Connecticut Common Core of Learning
All students in Region 16 will develop the proficiency, confidence, and fluency in reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing needed to meet the literacy demands of the 21st century. They will communicate ideas, solve problems and pursue personal interests.
All students in Region 16 will develop the basic computational skills and mathematical techniques essential to understanding the numerical world and solving quantitative problems.
All students in Region 16 will develop the skills necessary to be independent, competent and confident users of information and technology. They will be able to apply related strategies for acquiring basic skills and content knowledge in science, social studies, and the fine arts.
All students in Region 16 will develop the ability to work and learn independently, effectively allocating time, energy and resources. They shall work collaboratively as part of a team contributing to group efforts and understandings. They will demonstrate the effort and persistence needed to be successful in school, work, and life.
All students in Region 16 will demonstrate a sense of ethics and take responsibility for their commitments and actions. They will demonstrate respect for themselves and others and will become active, constructive members of their school, community, state, country, and world.
