History:

The history of Pasadena Christian Center begins in the Spring of 1929. The church was known at that time as Trinity Full Gospel Church of the Assemblies of God. Over the first 15 years the church had three different addresses: one at the corner of  Marengo and Green Street in the heart of downtown Pasadena, then later another on Mary Street (1930-1936), and also at Cordova Street (1936-1948). In 1948 what was then known as Trinity Assembly of God moved to 140 North Oak Knoll Avenue. The church had two strong runs of growth:The first was in the 1950’s under Rev. Paul Boyer and another under Rev. Harley Smith from 1958 through 1968. As happens with many established churches, the 1970’s began a state of decline that continued through the early 1990’s.

Ken Andrews and his family came to what was still then called Trinity Assembly of God in December of 1993.  At that time the church was in very dire condition both numerically and financially. Much was done in those first five years to attempt to bring about health, but the church continued to struggle. In 1998 a group representing the church body began meeting to wait on God for a renewal of His purpose and His vision for His church which had been renamed Pasadena Christian Center. An enthusiastic group of twenty representing all aspects of our church’s multi-generational and multi-racial heritage participated. This group was the beginning of the great change for Pasadena Christian Center.  It was through this process that the church family decided to relocate and have a fresh start. In February of 2002, Pasadena Christian Center opened at the present location, the Old Colorado Theater.  Since first moving into the theater, we have purchased the building adjacent to us that is now our Family Life Center. This allows us to adequately minister to our youth and children.

In February of 2012 Pastor Ken resigned as Senior Pastor to start a new ministry called RetroFit Ministries. During the transition, the church asked a local church planter James North to fill in and preach during the transition.  James was the pastor of a young church plant named City Church.  City Church was a small congregation meeting in a rented facility so they decided to just have one service together for a couple months.  Since those months went so well, Pasadena Christian Center voted unanimously to merge with City Church with James North as the lead pastor.  The merger became official on May 6th and we have been going strong ever since. In a time when churches are more known for splitting apart, God has joined two churches into one church, united in the mission of seeing Pasadena transformed.  We are a church in process. We are planning for the future and trusting that God will continue to do the miraculous in out midst and in the city we love. Come and join us for a great adventure in pursuing Christ.
