Our mission is to provide comprehensive, success-oriented learning activities for young people in our schools.

Palominas Elementary School District No. 49 is comprised of three school sites serving 1075 students with a K-8 organizational plan. Palominas Elementary District is located in a rural area situated 90 miles southeast of Tucson, Arizona. The District encompasses 192 square miles and serves a rapidly growing area of Sierra Vista. During recent Parent/Teacher Conferences over 95% of parents met with teachers. The most recent Achievement profile for Coronado School is Highly Performing, Palominas School is Performing Plus and Valley View School is Highly Performing.

The community respects and supports the local schools and expects visible and active involvement in community activities by our professional educators. The community also has high expectations for the students (2% Asian, 3 % Black, 30% Hispanic, 1% Indian and 64% White). Consistent volunteer and financial support is evident. Transportation is provided to all K-8 students attending our elementary schools. High school students may attend adjacent districts of Bisbee, Sierra Vista, or Tombstone. Our schools are viewed as focal points of community interest and serve as busy educational service centers.

The faculty is characterized as dedicated, energetic, and well qualified. Both the professional and classified staff take their responsibility of educating students seriously. A wide variety of auxiliary programs are offered at each school, including a media center, library, special education services, computer lab and music programs including a district marching band.
