About Us:

Morristown Elementary is part of the Shelby Eastern School Corporation. Morristown is located 25 miles southeast of Indianapolis just off of US 52.  MES is home to approximately 300 students in grades preschool through 5th grade.

In addition to our student population, we have 12 general education teachers, 1 half-time counselor, 1 half-time nurse,  1 special ed. preschool teacher, 1 resource teacher, 1 half-time speech teacher, 1 half-time art teacher, 1 half-time music teacher, 1 P.E. teacher, 1 half-time library assistant, 5 Title I assistants, 1 Title I/Preschool assistant, 2 resource assistants, 1 front office secretary, and 1 half-time treasurer.  MES is also home to the Discovery Kids Preschool and Morristown Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

Students are offered a variety of extra-curricular programs to choose from including:  boys and girls’ 5th grade basketball, Spell Bowl, Math Bowl, Drama Club, and Student Council.  Students in grades 1-5 are also active in the Accelerated Reader program.  Students work hard to achieve their goal for each nine-weeks.  Reward parties are scheduled for each semester and at the end of the year.  Students are recognized for their achievements in a variety of ways such as:  Student of the Month (sponsored by local businesses), Jacket Stings, Fine Dining, and through our Character Education program.  Each nine-weeks, students are recognized for being on the honor roll, perfect attendance, and meeting AR goals.  Promoting academic excellence is first and foremost at MES.

We are fortunate to have a facility that includes two computer labs, media center, science lab, and gymnasium.  With our building connected to the high school, students on the Morristown campus have the opportunity to share a cafeteria at the high school.  Most recently, we have increased our security by having cameras and a buzzer system installed.  Visitors to the building are asked to state their name and business before entering the building.  Once inside, visitors report to the office, sign-in, and receive a name tag.  If you are interested in learning more about our school, we encourage you to contact us and set up an appointment with our principal, Mr. Corn.
