111 West 5th Street
660-827-3228

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Liberty Center Association for the Arts is to celebrate the arts wherever we find them in our community. To that end, the LCAA centralizes the administration, promotion, and education of the arts: schedules, coordinates and promotes cultural and artistic activities; attracts volunteers and artists by offering personal and professional growth opportunities.

History:

The New Lona Theatre located here in 1920. Silent films were shown and later it became the Liberty Theatre. The first "talkie" was shown in 1928. Meadow Gold purchased the building in the 1950s and turned it into cold storage. In the 1980s the building was given to the Sedalia Community Theatre and was remodeled back into a theatre. The Sedalia Area Council for the Arts, The Sedalia Community Theatre, and The Liberty Center Inc. had their offices in the building. Those organizations consolidated and became the Liberty Center Association for the Arts (LCAA) which is now the center for arts activities in Sedalia and the surrounding area.

The LCAA is an umbrella organization offering help and support to the Sedalia Harmony Chorus, the Sedalia Concert Band, the Sedalia Chorale and the Sedalia Visual Arts Association. These affiliates are featured in the LCAA newsletter, Arts Talk, they are given space in the box office to sell tickets to their events and are given space in the civic theatre program book.
