Mission:

As a statewide, open-access, community college, Ivy Tech Community College provides residents of Indiana with professional, technical, transfer and lifelong education for successful careers, personal development and citizenship. Through its affordable, quality educational programs and services, the College strengthens Indiana's economy and enhances its cultural development.

Ivy Tech Community College has educated students in Lake, LaPorte, Porter, Pulaski, Jasper, Newton and Starke counties since 1968. It is part of the 14-region statewide Ivy Tech Community College system - the second largest and fastest growing public higher education system in Indiana.
Along with the administrative personnel that manage day-to-day operations of the College, a regional board comprised of seven trustees governs Ivy Tech Northwest.

Five divisions compose the College’s offerings: Business, General Education, Health Science, Public Services and Technology. For students unable to attend classes on campus, the distance education program provides options for continuing or completing degrees and certificates online. The college also offers a schedule of continuing education courses. Continuing Education courses provide personal enrichment and skill upgrades on a non-credit basis.

Enrollment for the Northwest Region averages over 6000 students on its four campuses: Gary, East Chicago De La Garza, Valparaiso and Michigan City. Each campus provides programs that address the needs of its unique community.

Michigan City Campus:

Along with the Valparaiso Campus, the Michigan City Campus (LaPorte County) serves the eastern most area of Ivy Tech Community College Northwest’s region. It is the newest campus added to the Northwest Region. Major cities in its district are Michigan City and LaPorte and the smaller surrounding towns and communities to the south and east.
The campus provides the LaPorte County area with health care, business administration, culinary and technology programs.
