Fort Bend Archeological Society

Tyree House - 600 Houston Street
281-342-6478

Mission:

In 1992, the Fort Bend Archeological Society (FBAS) was created to promote scientific archeological exploration and research, for the preservation and conservation of archeological materials and sites, to interpret and publish data attendant thereto and most importantly, to education its membership and the public to the aims of archeology.

About Us:

In that time, thousands of volunteer hours have been spent excavating sites across Fort Bend County adding new information to the county’s history. Fort Bend County’s history is rich in both prehistoric and historic archeology. Excavations by FBAS members have investigated sites reaching back 3,300 years ago, through the Texas Revolution and into recent historic times. Teaming up with the Houston Archeological Society and other local groups has allowed FBAS to explore the archeology of other local counties of southeast Texas. FBAS members also volunteer as museum docents with the Fort Bend Museum to promote the education of archeology and the history of Fort Bend County.
