Fat Chicken Farm

6362 Taylor Road
218-749-2186

Using hoop houses to extend northern Minnesota's short growing season means we can offer a wide variety of fresh local food in your CSA basket -- beginning with heirloom varieties of head lettuce and baby beets and carrots in the spring to gorgeous tomatoes and peppers in the summer, and sweet potatoes and winter squash in the fall. We keep the number of CSA shares small to ensure we can provide enough high-quality produce for our members throughout the season.

At Fat Chicken Farm, we grow good food with kindness! Our heritage breeds of chicken are allowed to free-range during the day before they head into their secure coop at night. Community supported agriculture shares are available for 2011; we deliver weekly and every-other-week shares to many locations on the Iron Range. We extend northern Minnesota's short growing season with high tunnels, where we grow much of our heirloom variety vegetables, including tomatoes, sweet potatoes, head lettuce, carrots, beets, peas and more. Silver maple trees on our farm yield light, intensely-flavored syrup each spring, and soon afterwards our honeybees are out working in the fields. It's a joy to be able to offer organically-grown, sustainably grown food to our customers. Visitors are always welcome, just give us a call!
