El Camino Ranch Riding Academy has over 30 years experience in providing riding instruction in western, huntseat, basic horsemanship, showmanship, basic jumping and gymkhana. El Camino emphasizes student safety, helmets are provided and all instructors are First Aid and CPR certified. El Camino boasts a lesson string of 10 horses for all riders and disciplines, and two riding instructors to help you achieve your goals. El Camino Ranch is family owned and operated.

The property was purchased by Bill Locklin in the early 1950s and served as a family farm producing oranges, tomatoes and similar produce. Bill Locklin built a sandwich shop on the corner of the property and sold his produce while pursuing his electricians’ career. He soon revolutionized outdoor lighting with his invention of the 12volt outdoor light.

He started his lighting company, Loran Nightscaping (also located in Redlands CA) around the same time he met his future wife LaVesta. The couple were soon married. As Bill spent more time developing Nightscaping, the Corner Sandwich shop was converted into a horse barn in order to accommodate LaVesta’s quickly growing Arabian breeding program. In 2010 that barn was once again remodeled, and now serves as El Camino's licensed Dog Kennel.

In 1983 El Camino Ranch was established and an Arabian horse breeding facility, modeling its name after Bills “El Camino ” light fixture emerged. Over the years the five original broodmares turned into over 60 horses on the property including lesson horses, show horses, breeding stock, and customer horses.

The Riding Academy was started in 1989 and has been growing ever since. Bill passed away in 2007 and LaVesta is now running Nightscaping. While still very active on the ranch, LaVesta has left the daily ranch activities in the capable hands of her son Scott, and granddaughter Vandi. El Camino provides a welcoming family atmosphere full of friends and fun. We specialize in Arabian horses, and our mission is to continue to bring people and horses together for the next 30 years.
