East Central College - Southwest Area Center

11 North Clark
573-468-8287

About Us:

The Southwest Area Center (SAC) of East Central College was established in 1977. The vision of the Board of Trustees and the college administration was to bring post-secondary education closer to the citizens in the southwest area of the college's tax district and service area. For several years the center operated in a building owned by the Sullivan Public School System. In 1990 the center was moved to its current location at 11 North Clark Street, in downtown Sullivan.

The SAC offers general education, developmental, computer, continuing, vocational and Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) classes during both day and evening hours of operation. Many students find it an un-intimidating place to begin their college career. Others come just to brush up on skill areas. Many combine attendance at SAC along with attendance at the main campus to cut driving time to two or three trips a week.

The SAC offers two general classrooms, an English/Math learning lab, a computer laboratory/classroom available for class and student use, and a classroom/conferencing room which is equipped with interactive television for distance learning opportunities. GED classes are also offered during both day and evening hours.
