Mission Statement

The objects, purposes, and powers of the Concord Historical Society are:
a.) The specific and primary purposes are to discover, establish, and preserve structures, objects, and materials of interest, importance, and value, in relation to the City of Concord, California, and its vicinity, and to discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge of the history of the City of Concord, California, and it's vicinity.

b.) The general purposes and powers of the Society shall be:

1.) To discover, mark, memorialize, restore and preserve historical buildings, structures, sites and trails in the general geographical area of Concord, California.

2.) To discover, collect, restore, preserve and exhibit objects, materials, publications and accounts helpful in establishing, illustrating, teaching and promoting interest in the history of the City of Concord and its vicinity and the exploration, settlement, development, growth, progress and activities of the City of Concord and its vicinity and population.

3.) To promote interest and instruction in the history of the City of Concord and its vicinity by publication of historical material and by assisting and cooperating with governmental and other agencies, entities and institutions on projects and programs that will further the purposes and objectives of the Society.

4.) To do all other things incident to the main non-profit purposes of the Society which are permitted by the Non-profit Corporation Laws of the State of California.

5.) Notwithstanding any of the above statements of purposes and powers, the Society shall not, except to an insubstantial degree, engage in any activities or exercise any powers that are not in furtherance of the primary purposes of the Society.

6.) No substantial part of the activities of the Society shall consist of carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the Society shall not participate or intervene in any political campaign (including the publication or distribution of statements) on behalf of any candidate for public office.
