OVERVIEW

The Georgia State Constitution, adopted February 5, 1777, named eight counties to replace the colonial parishes. Among the original eight was Camden County, named for the Earl of Camden, Charles Pratt, Chief Justice and Lord Chancellor of England, who opposed the attitude of the English government toward the colonies in America.

Camden County is located 30 miles north of Jacksonville, Florida at the Interstate corridor.
