Bethany Church of God of Prophecy

In the late 1920's a passion burned in the hearts of many ministers throughout eastern North Carolina. It was a God-given desire to take the Good News of the Gospel to every community and see boroken lives transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. In June of 1927, this burden brought J.A. West, Milton Stewart, G. T. Stargle, and Julia Woodall together to begin a tent revival on what is now part of the Bethany Church of God of Prophecy church campus. God honored the outreach effort of these men with a mighty outpouring of His spirit. The tent revival continued for nine weeks.

It was this outpouring that birthed Bethany Church of God of Prophecy. The church was organized shortly after the revival on August 27 of that same year. Two of the leaders of the revival, J.A. (Jesse) West and Julia Woodall served as the first pastor and church clerk, respectively.

The burden of reaching our community and beyond still burns in the heart of the Bethany Church family. Outreach ministries such as our Wednesday night Firebrand Youth and Pioneer Club ministries completely fill our facilities with more than 125 children and teens. Our two vans currently make two trips each into the surrounding neighborhoods to be able to pick up all the children wishing to come. Our worship, youth worship and drama teams take their message of hope through song and creative drama to churches throughout the region, often accompanied by our Pastoral staff who bring a word of hope and encouragement.

"Blessings from Bethany," our daily radio ministry, broadcasts from Sanford to coastal North Carolina. Our Harvest Partnership with Voice of Salvation Ministries and regular mission endeavors extend our reach around the globe.
