Belmont Heritage Commission

Founded by citizens at the 2004 Town Meeting, the Commission is one of approximately 50 in the State of New Hampshire. Organized under State Law RSA 674:44 the group includes five Selectmen-appointed members.

Its mission, adopted in 2005 is to "promote the proper recognition, use and protection of the unique historic and cultural resources of Belmont and also integrate planning as a partnership with individuals, businesses, town boards and other appropriate groups.

Current appointees include Wallace Rhodes, chairman-Linda Frawley, vice chairman - Margaret Normandin, secretary-Shayne Duggan, member, Ronald Cormier-Selectmen's Representative.

Members serve on local committees for Village Revitalization, Budget Committee, Old Home Day, PlanNH charrette and the Belknap County Economic Development Council among others.  Heritage Commission members founded and organized signature seasonal events including "Cruisin' the Village: Belmont Village Classic Car Show" in 2011 and "Deck the Village: Community Christmas Festival" in 2008.
