The Alaska State Employment Service was established over 70 years ago as a part of the United States Employment Service. In 1998, a system of One-Stop Job Centers was established to provide all employment services under one roof. Job seekers receive job search assistance, resume help, job referrals and placement assistance, and can attend workshops to better prepare for entry into the job market. Employers can list jobs at no cost on Alaska's Job Bank and receive help in finding qualified, trained employees.
