Looking for something to do to celebrate the spooky season? We’ve got the perfect thing, come downtown to catch one of the final performances of The Ghost of Woodland Opera House! This show will give you all of the chills and supernatural intrigue that you want in preparation for Halloween. Written by Matthew Abergel and Bob Cooner, the play is a homage to the WOH -  delving into the history of our building and the story of William Porter (played by Rodger McDonald), the firefighter who lost his life in the Opera House while fighting the great Woodland fire of 1892. Want to learn more and see how the story pans out? Come see the show!

Many Thanks to Zoart Photography for these wonderful images!

A Christmas Story

November 18 - December 11

Based on humorist, Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s, A Christmas Story is a favorite for all ages.

The story follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker who is on a mission to convince his mom & dad that he needs a genuine Red Ryder BB gun from Santa at Christmas. As neither parent budges, Ralphie even pleads his case to Miss Shields, his teacher, who utters the same words he keeps hearing from the parents... "you'll shoot your eye out!" Nonetheless, Ralphie persists. The play includes all of the hilarious and memorable moments from the much beloved 1983 movie.

Tickets are on sale now at the button below for performances on Friday & Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Reserved seats are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors 62+, and $15 for children 17 and under. Meet the Guild Board

We’d like to officially introduce you to our new Guild Board. These individuals are committed to welcoming new members and growing the Guild so it becomes an even more active support to the Opera House.

Board members are pictured left to right, please read more about them below.

Kelly Coleman (Vice President) finds herself at the theater a lot as the mom of a Woodland Opera House Broadway Bound member and Rising Stars performer.  Kelly lives in Davis and is currently the Chairperson for the STEAC Holiday Program - a very special neighbor-helping-neighbor program serving low-income residents of Davis for the December holidays. She also serves on the Site Councils for her daughter's junior high school and her son's elementary school in Davis.

Erik Daniells (Secretary) is an accomplished musical theatre conductor and pianist and has worked at notable theatre companies including Minneapolis's esteemed Guthrie Theatre, Denver Center, North Shore Musical Theatre, and Sacramento Music Circus to name a few. A career highlight was being the vocal director and onstage pianist for the Academy Award nominated film Lady Bird. He is very honored to return to the Opera House after spending much of his early days behind the piano at this historic theater. He is on an extended hiatus from performing while he raises his daughter, Iris and has taken on a leadership role at Corner Drug, the family business. He is very happy to be able to work with nonprofits such as the Opera House Guild and NAMI Yolo County, the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Christopher Charles Olvera (Treasurer), a native of Woodland is no stranger to the Woodland Opera House. His first show on the historic stage took place when he was 14 years old. After a hiatus he returned in 2019 as the iconic and excruciatingly creepy Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a role which won him an Elly award for Best Supporting actor. He is thrilled to volunteer his time at the WOH and looks forward to seeing you there!

Pat Aukes (President) loves to volunteer his time to local charities and organizations. In addition to his Woodland Opera House Guild Presidency, he is Vice President of the Yolo County Fair Heritage Foundation. Among being a premier real estate broker in the area, Pat is a talented actor performing in many hits at the WOH such as Newsies, Sister Act and Bye Bye Birdie to name a few. He hopes to see you at our historic theatre soon!
