UN Day: Poissons en Papier Monday, October 24th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Create your own deliciously curvy and fluid paper fish to be precise, that seem to leap and spin in the air, especially when hung in colorful shoals. Register here.

UN Day Movie Screening: The Fight for Water Monday, October 24th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Climate change is causing temperatures to rise. Extreme weather events and droughts are increasing. Springs and wells are drying up. And everyone needs more water. Join us for a late afternoon screening of The Fight for Water, a historical documentary over the unintended consequences of an environmental decision that affected a community, united an entire region and galvanized the entire State of California to fight for their water. A short discussion will follow! Registration recommended but drop-ins always welcome.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum presents... Questioning Power Tuesday, November 1st from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Isabella Gardner filled her Museum with portraits of princes and queens, and was herself a dynamic leader. Learn more about the Museum’s founder through the personalities she collected, and investigate how power has been represented in the art of different time periods and cultures. Recognizing and Dealing with Caregiver Stress Wednesday, November 2nd from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Caregivers often ignore or fail to recognize when they are on the verge of burnout. Learn the warning signs and practical, effective – and guilt-free – self-care practices to help you manage caregiver stress. Join us. 

Friends of the Trumbull Library - Regular Meeting Wednesday November 2nd from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a regular meeting of the Friends of the Trumbull Library.  All are invited to attend.  The Friends are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to advocate and raise funds for the Trumbull Library.  For more information about the Friends, along with information on how you can join and contribute, please visit the site.

NVCC: An A Capella Afternoon Sunday, November 6th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Let the students of Naugatuck Valley Community College's Music Program regale you with original a Capella arrangements of your favorite songs from the 90s to now. Register here. 

Mini Knit Sweaters with the Stitching Coach Saturday, November 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn to knit a mini sweater that looks like an Icelandic Lopapeysa. Patrons should know how to cast on, knit in the round and bind off. In class you will conquer colorwork and picking up stitches with the help of Bristol instructor, Dawn Zillich – The Stitching Coach. Join us. Register here.

Canva Basics Monday, November 7th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This presentation will teach you about Canva, a web based graphic design platform that has a variety of uses. Join us to learn how to access and use a variety of templates and how to edit the templates to suit your needs. This presentation will also show you how to create designs for social media, presentations, documents, and other visual content. Register here.

Chess Club Thursday, October 27th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All ages and skill levels are invited to play. Participants must bring their own chess boards. Registration is requested but not required. Since it's almost Halloween, we encourage participants to come in a costume! There might even be a couple of sweet treats.

Alien Slime Saturday, October 29th from 3p.m. to 4 p.m. Make some freaky alien slime, just in time for Halloween! Ages 8 - 11. Registration required. All materials provided.

Book Club for Grades 4-6 Wednesday, November 2nd from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This month we are reading Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation by Stuart Gibbs. Read the book on your own and then join us for a lively discussion in-person at the library.

Little Scientists Friday, November 4th from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Join us for hands-on, messy activities focused on different scientific topics. Ages 3-5. Registration is required.

Storytime 2s and 3s Tuesday, October 25th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join us for story time! We will have a little bit of stories and a show stopping craft. Registration required. Ages 2-3.

Fairchild D&D Club Wednesday October 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Make new friends and take part in exciting adventures! Never played before? No problem! No prior experience with D&D is required and all the materials will be provided. Bring your own character or use one of our pre-made characters. Open to ages 12 and up. Registration is required.

Fairchild Harvest Party Saturday October 29th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join us for a fun morning completing Fall and Halloween crafts. Costumes are encouraged! Registration required, all ages.

Fairchild: SkyTails Saturday, November 5th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. SkyTails is a series of Native American stories told through mask, dance, puppet, and painted accordion/scroll. Registration required, ages 5 and up 

The Town is seeking input on how to allocate funds from the ARPA. There are about $5 million left to allocate. If you are a Trumbull resident and would like to tell them what to use the money for, please consider leaving a message here. You can find out more about the plan here.
