Adult Programming

Mini Knit Sweaters with the Stitching Coach Saturday, November 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn to knit a mini sweater that looks like an Icelandic Lopapeysa. Patrons should know how to cast on, knit in the round and bind off. In class you will conquer colorwork and picking up stitches with the help of Bristol instructor, Dawn Zillich – The Stitching Coach. Join us. Register here.

NVCC: An A Capella Afternoon Sunday, November 6th from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Let the students of Naugatuck Valley Community College's Music Program regale you with original a Capella arrangements of your favorite songs from the 90s to now. Register here.

Canva Basics Monday, November 7th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This presentation will teach you about Canva, a web based graphic design platform that has a variety of uses. Join us to learn how to access and use a variety of templates and how to edit the templates to suit your needs. This presentation will also show you how to create designs for social media, presentations, documents, and other visual content. Register here.

Women and Money Roundtable: How to Make Sense of Today's Financial Markets Wednesday, November 9th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Women and Money Roundtable is a monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. Children's & Teen Programming

Toddler Time for 2s and 3s Monday, November 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Join Ms. Chelsie in person for great stories, songs, and dances. Ages 2-3. To ensure all families have a chance to try and attend this program, you must register every week.

Craft Night: Old MacDonald's Farm Monday, November 14th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fun, farm-themed crafts for ages 3-6. Registration is required.

YA Book Brigade Thursday, November 17th from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a book club for teens entering grades 6-12. The first 6 teens to register will be guaranteed a copy to check out from the library. Additional registrants are permitted to join but must secure their own copy of the book. This month's book is: The Girls I've Been by Tess Sharpe. Register here.

Book Cover Bingo Thursday, November 17th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join us for a fun game of Book Cover Bingo at the library. You'll be looking for book covers instead of numbers and letters. You'll also hear about the library's newest children's books. Small prizes awarded to winners. This is an all ages family program. Registration is required. When registering, please include the total number of people attending the program (adults too!).

Fairchild-Nichols Memorial Programming

Fairchild: SkyTails Saturday, November 5th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. SkyTails is a series of Native American stories told through mask, dance, puppet, and painted accordion/scroll. Marya Ursin, of the Mystic Paper Beasts, lays out her props in full view of the audience, and gently links stories from across America in her telling. She uses about 20 masks and puppets, several musical instruments, and a bit of narrative. Registration required, ages 5 and up.

The Bobcat – Connecticut’s Secretive Wild Cat Monday, November 7th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This presentation focuses on the natural history of bobcats in Connecticut, an overview of bobcat habitat, diet, behavior, reproduction, and current research efforts. Mountain lions are discussed. Register here.

Fairchild – Storytime 2's and 3's Tuesday, November 8th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come join us for story time! We will have a little bit of stories and a show stopping craft. Registration required. Ages 2-3.

Fairchild D&D Club Make new friends and take part in exciting adventures! Never played before? No problem! No prior experience with D&D is required and all the materials will be provided. Bring your own character or use one of our pre-made characters. Open to ages 12 and up. Registration is required.
