Government and Politics

December 28, 2022

From: Town Of Alpine

Town of Alpine welcomes new team members.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our newest employee Monica Chenault. Monica’s position with the Town of Alpine is Clerk/Treasurer. On December 20th at the Town Council meeting Monica was appointed to the position. Monica
joined the team on August 1st, 2022 to train to replace Sharon Backus. Sharon held the position for 8 years and as of December 30th Sharon will be enjoying full retirement with her husband “Snig”.

Monica comes to the Town of Alpine with over 18 years experience in the financial services industry and more than 10 years in the water distribution and waste water collection industry. We are very excited to have her experience and education join our team.

Monica and her husband Dave moved to Wyoming in 2017 from Pennsylvania. Monica and Dave have 7 adult sons and 6 grandkids. In their free time they enjoy camping, ATV rides & snowmobiling so Wyoming is the perfect place for them to be.

On January 4th 2023 we will be saying good bye to Mayor Lutz and Councilman Justin Fritz and welcoming Councilman Emily Castillo and Mayor Eric Green to our team.

As we move forward with our newest team members a quote by Henry Ford seems most appropriate. “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”

Volunteers Needed.

The Town of Alpine is always looking for volunteers to help with town events. If you
are interested in joining us and giving back to your community please contact the town office and speak with Melody. Currently we are looking for dealers for Casino Night during Winter Jubilee. All proceeds from Casino Night will benefit our local yout through scholarships.

Winter Jubilee is fast approaching. If you have not had the chance to enjoy the festivities for this event in years past, this year is the perfect time to join in on the fun. Our Snow sculptures each year are a huge hit for all to see. The fireworks against a snowy background is a magical sight. There’s something about fireworks that will make you feel warm, even on a cold night .

Take the kids out for some winter fun Saturday afternoon and then get your favorite babysitter and come out for Casino Night which is fun for all who attend and the funds raised benefit local youth scholarships.

The Town of Alpine along with the Lincoln county Sheriff’s Office would like to remind Alpine Citizens and visitors about the use of snowmobiles within Town limits.

The Crossing of private property or riding in undesignated areas is
prohibited.

When crossing roadways cross at a ninety-degree angle, yielding to
oncoming traffic.

Off-road recreational vehicles are prohibited upon public streets, unless the person has valid registration, insurance and possess a valid driver’s license.

Any person who is under the age of 18 must wear a protective helmet.

All traffic laws apply including speed limitations, stop signs and yielding to pedestrians.

Following the laws and guidelines will make for a safe and uneventful winter riding season for you, your family and your neighbors.

Have fun and feel free to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office with any questions. 307-885-5231

Let your water drip

The Town of Alpine recommends that when the weather is very cold outside, you let the cold water drip. The reason is that water may freeze in your water line. When all the water in your home is shut off, the water pressure in that line may increase. As water in the supply line freezes, it expands pushing against all the water between the line and your home. This build up in pressure can increase enough to cause a pipe to burst or fracture at its weakest point. Adequately insulating pipes can help to mitigate or completely prevent your pipes from freezing.

Running water through the pipe, even at a trickle, helps prevent pipes from freezing. Even at the slightest drip it can provide pressure relief when needed. A dripping faucet does waste some water, so only pipes vulnerable to freezing (pipes that run through an unheated or unprotected space) should be left with the water flowing. Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature during both the day and at night.

Winter is here! Make sure you are ready for a snowy Star Valley winter. You will need proper tires and an emergency kit in your vehicle. The Town usually plows at night when 4 or more inches of snow is on the road. It is important that you do not leave your garbage can or vehicle in the road right of way . If you have not spent a winter in Town and have questions our town staff is always available to answer questions.

The greater Alpine area is a vibrant and healthy community located at the convergence of
three pristine rivers and surrounded by mountains and National forests. Our citizens work together to promote tourism, businesses and activities that sustain and protect our natural environment and quality of life for the economic prosperity and enjoyment of all.
