The Mountain Park Community Association - CDAP Update

Sports and Recreation

From: Mountain Park Park

The Mountain Park Community Association (MPCA) is pleased to announce that the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) awarded a $100,000 grant to unincorporated Mountain Park. The grant will fund a commercial revitalization plan for the intersections of Five Forks-Trickum Road at Rockbridge Road and Killian Road.   ARC’s press release is available at https://atlantaregional.org/news/press-releases/5-metro-atlanta-communities-to-receive-planning-support-through-arcs-community-development-assistance-program/

Gwinnett Planning & Development (P&D) partnered with MPCA to craft & submit the grant application in February 2022.  ARC prioritized applications demonstrating an active partnership between local government and a Community Based Organization (CBO).  Since the Mountain Park Community Association is an incorporated nonprofit (501c4) with the mission of advocating for the community, MPCA was that Community Based Organization!

Instead of perpetually fighting development after plans have entered the permitting process, the people of Mountain Park-Lilburn have an opportunity to get in front of development to make decisions (in advance) on how we want that development to look, with a master plan to intentionally enhance the community’s character and sense of place.

This funded project will officially begin in late summer (August 2022) with public engagement events co-hosted by Planning & Development and MPCA.  Event announcements will be sent by email.  You are invited to take part in the planning process as MPCA works with ARC, P&D, and professional consultants. In the meantime, take our Survey Revitalizing the Five Forks Trickum Corridor to let us know what is important to you.  Share the link with your spouse, students, neighbors, friends, religious community, and favorite business’ owner (and even their employees).  We need a broad cross-section of the entire community to reply, including all age groups.  Our youth will inherit Mountain Park; they deserve a voice in what that future looks like.  Our goal is 1000 responses. So far, we have over 300.

There is strength in numbers.  MPCA has over 600 community members on our email list and 1.2K followers on our Facebook newsfeed.  Thanks to public involvement through MPCA, the Community of Mountain Park is now on Gwinnett’s Planning & Development maps and the Board of Commissioners know we care deeply about the future of our community.

No matter where you live, if Mountain Park is part of your life, you are invited to take part in MPCA by signing up for email notices.
