The Minnesota Original Music Festival (MNOMF) is a network of free concerts, workshops, and events hosted by Minnesota artists in the heart of St. Peter, MN. The festival offers unique opportunities for audiences to dialogue with artists through special sessions and performances during the week leading up to the culminating concerts at Minnesota Square Park. The Minnesota Original Music Festival seeks to create an environment where audiences can be inspired to pursue their own artistic interests.

Sunday July 16, 2023
4pm: Punk Rock Matinee
Start off the Minnesota Original Music Festival week with a Pre-MNOMF event with the Punk Rock Matinee.

Featuring some amazing heavy rocking acts: Loadie, the burn vault, torrid forest & citrine shandy

All ages!

Free! ($10 suggested donation)

July 17 - 18, 2023
7pm: The Filmmakers with Steve Firkins
Steve directed and wrote the documentary / feature film “The Filmmakers”. The film topics climate change with a sci-fi twist. A recent winner for the best documentary feature at the Los Angeles International Sci-Fi Festival. Join Steve’s showing of the director’s cut and interviews with the crew of The Filmmakers at St. Peter HS.

Wednesday July 19, 2023
5pm: Festival Kick Off
Kick off the 2023 Minnesota Original Music Fest with music on the patio at Patrick’s in St. Peter! Music Line-up: The Cousins, Soul Folk Union, Bee Balm Fields. Wednesday, July 19, 6pm, follows the start of the 48 Hour Band Challenge.

5pm: 48 Hr Band Challenge Draft
This year’s 48-hour band challenge is co-hosted by Cara Gorman and Punk Rock Tom!

Band groups will be formed at Patrick’s

The challengers create an original song and perform two covers.

11:00-11:45 am: “Peer Review Songwriting” with Nate Boots (Choir Room)
12:00-12:45 pm: “Navigating the Music Business: Making Some Money without Selling Your Soul” with Larry McDonough (Choir Room)
1:00-3:00 pm: “Music Production: Video and Audio Recording” with Triple Falls (Theater)

8pm: Song Writers in the Round
A multigenerational conversation with Minnesota artists at different stages of their music careers. Artists share their music and perspectives with a studio audience, to be recorded live for radio.

Conversations, music, interactions with Minnesota songwriters. Your host is Kaleb Braun-Schulz.

Roots Night. Music in the park adds another evening of entertainment to the Minnesota Original Music Festival. The event is located in Minnesota Square Park. Begins at 7:00pm.

6pm: 48 Hr Band Challenge Competition
This year’s 48-hour band challenge is co-hosted by Cara Gorman and Punk Rock Tom!

The challenge judging takes place at Patrick’s on Third. The public is invited to watch and cheer for their favorite 48-hour Band Challenge performances!

The bands will battle it out for a range of prizes. The best band gets to open the MNOMF Sunday concert on the KMSU Main Stage.
