Friday Night Concert:
Ukulele virtuosos Andrew Molina and Brittni Paiva kick off the festival at the George Nakano Theatre
Two of the hottest ukulele talent on the planet:
Brittni Paiva, a multi award-winning instrumentalist, known for her stunning articulation of what she can do on the ukulele. She has performed on stage with Carlos Santana when he appeared in Hawaii and has also joined famed guitarist Tommy Emmanuel on stage at the California Worldfest; she is a 3-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner with numerous other awards and nominations throughout the years, including Most Promising Artist of the Year in 2005 for her debut release, Brittni x 3.
Andrew Molina's electrifying performances have captivated audiences across the country and around the world, appearing in China, Europe, Tahiti and, of course, the Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival. You'll love Andrew's unique solo ukulele arrangements of hits like Aerosmith’s “Dream On” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses alongside his own original instrumental compositions have earned each of his albums a Na Hoku Hanohano award nomination for “Ukulele Album of the Year” (Hawaii’s version of the Grammy Awards). The Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival - Ohana Ukulele Family Sunday
Join us at the Grand Annex in San Pedro for a Sunday afternoon concert and play-along for the whole family
Grand Vision and Kala Koa Entertainment with support from Ohana Ukulele present an afternoon of family ukulele fun! Performances by Bernadette Plazola, Lise Lee, and Alissa Hunnicutt plus time to jam on the stage with friends, family and other ukulele enthusiasts!
Bernadette Plazola is a YouTuber from Imperial Valley, California who started her ukulele YouTube channel, Bernadette Teaches Music, while she was teaching elementary music in Okinawa, Japan, creating instructional music videos for teachers and students. Now with over 400,000 subscribers, her channel has inspired many people around the world to start playing ukulele.
Lise Lee is in high demand. She has been performing throughout California and Hawaii since 2015 at events including the LA International Ukulele Festival, Aloha Concert Series, Heritage of Aloha Festival as well as at the Marriott Waikiki, and at Disney’s Aulani Resort. With her sister Emi, the Lee Sisters have recently released their debut EP album, “Uke Shoes”.
Alissa Hunnicutt has made a name for herself in the ukulele festival circles as a singer/storyteller alternative folk artist and an accomplished puppeteer. She draws from her acting and musical training to bring new life to songs with her thoughtful ukulele arrangements.
