Casper, Wyo. (April 1, 2024) — Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded HUB International Casper a 2024 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Natrona County Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting the elderly or homebound people of Natrona County to maintain their independence and integrity, physical and mental health by preparing and delivering nutritionally tailored meals via caring community volunteers. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for the Natrona County Meals on Wheels, which can be doubled to $10,000 just by having community supporters vote online. 

Starting Monday, April 1, the HUB International Casper and Natrona County Meals and Wheels community story will be highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/HUB-International-Casper where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives 500 votes, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.  

The Natrona County Meals on Wheels program could use this money to purchase emergency meals when weather is too dangerous for delivery, to offset food costs which run about $75,000 each month, to purchasing new coolers for delivering meals, and help to offset the required 10% match they face every year for Federal Grant funds.

HUB International Casper currently has 16 people that volunteer regularly for Natrona County Meals on Wheels. This includes a dedicated Friday delivery route, which is always the busiest of the week, as they also deliver weekend meals.  Spearheaded by employees Wendy and Dave Elmer and Jennifer Deurloo, who have all been involved with the program for over 10 years, the team works together in talking to community members each Friday, preparing meals and volunteering for the nonprofit’s annual fundraiser.  Wendy and Jennifer also serve on the nonprofit’s board of directors.

Throughout 2024, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
