Carson City, NV -- On May 15th, Governor Joe Lombardo announced that he will lower the flags to half-staff on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in honor of peace officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

Governor Lombardo has ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all state public buildings and grounds from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in observance of National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day.

“On National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, we pay tribute to those peace officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and we recognize the grief and loss suffered by their families and friends,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “May their memory serve as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the enduring strength and bravery of our law enforcement community.”

National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day was established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, when he signed a proclamation designating May 15 as National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day.
