THURSDAY AUGUST 25, 2022

Council Meeting
August 22, 2022
6:00 PM
The meeting began with a Public Hearing on the Tax Levy for 2023.
Mrs. Keisha Guthrie reported
that the levy will increase
slightly to 0.9700. There were no questions from the floor.

Officer Yazzie led the assembly in the Pledge. The roll call established a quorum and the Consent Agenda was passed unanimously.

The Mayor acknowledged the efforts of Mr. David Gonzales for stopping by the side of the road to help a woman jump start her car. The Mayor also recognized the exemplary efforts of Officer Yazzie. In the middle of the night he realized his neighbors two-doors up were in danger. The house between them was on fire and would most likely spread to the neighbor's house. He continued banging on the door until the occupants came to the door and exited safely. The Mayor recognized the efforts of each of these individuals for showing up and being real for someone in their hour of distress.

In business from the floor, Ms. Susan Davis asked the Council if there was something we could do for stray animals. She also wanted to know why trash and recycling is not being picked up on a consistent basis. The Council took these questions under advisement.

Ms. Susan Mendham asked if something could be done about the infestation of Kudzu. The Council promised to work on this issue.

Mr. Mark O'Renick presented a report on the past, present and future of the Sugar Creek Fair Board. The future looks bright and promising.

The Mayor presented six bills to the Board.
All passed unanimously.
-4560 Authorized payment to Kobush Concrete, Inc, for emergency repairs to a bridge deck in Sugar Creek.
-4561 Approved an agreement and payment to Superior Electrical Construction for electrical
improvements to Mike Onka Hall and surrounding property.
-4562 Approved agreement and payment to Premium Construction and Services for Asphalt repairs to Hink Drive and Northern Blvd.
-4563 Authorized release of proceeds and interest to Mr. James Holloway.
-4564 Authorized payment to Mike Fisher Construction Company for repairs to several storm drains.
