HHW

I was asked about Household Hazardous Waste

(HHW)

the other day.

The short answer is to go to MARC.org HHW.

This will pull up a great website covering most of your questions. I have participated in several of the MARC meetings and asked for a

Recycling Day in the Creek, but the answer was, "We tried that before and we did not get that big enough of a turnout to justify coming back again."

Learn more about HHW and the collection program on RecycleSpot.org:

How to dispose of HHW properly

HHW collection facilities

Search for participating communities

Mobile HHW collection events

Safer cleaning alternatives

Business Hazardous Waste

A good choice out of this list is HHW collection facilities. This will give you the schedule throughout the year.

Again, nothing in Sugar Creek this year and sometimes you have to schedule a drop off.

HOWEVER,

since Sugar Creek pays the required fee to participate in the HHW program, show your ID and you will be allowed drop off privileges for free for MOST items. Things like TV's and electrical components still cost a little to drop off because they are recyclables and not HHW - household waste.

Six Days to Memorial Day!

I hope bad weather doesn’t ruin the Memorial Day plans I didn’t make.

This Memorial Day weekend, it is important to remember those who lost their battle to be swimsuit-ready by summer.

The biggest honor I can bestow upon America this Memorial Day is not taking my shirt off.
