Debbie Gillispie Sworn in as
City Council Place 3

Debbie Gillispie was sworn in as City Council Place 3 by City Secretary Conchita Torrez. Ms. Gillispie will serve in this position to replace Sabrina Rivers who resigned. Debbie will fill this vacancy until the election in May 2023.

City Council Met December 20th, 2022

On Tuesday December 20th, 2022, at 7:00 PM the City of Seymour’s City Council met for their monthly scheduled meeting. After a prayer and pledge the city administrator reported to the council that Salt Fork members totals is at one hundred and ten, that the City of Seymour welcomed a new employee into the Water Department Mr. Dakota Berkley. The city also welcomed Ted Sanchez as the City Hall/Park maintenance and custodial engineer. Dr. Brasher also announced that the Transfer Station could be closed until January 7th, 2023, depending on the weather and when the new concrete rolling floor could be poured. This will create some challenges for our community with all the Christmas trash, but please be patient as we remodel the city’s transfer station. Next the City Council accepted the resignation of Sabrina Rivers as Council Place three.

The Electric Department was recognized as the “Department of the Month.” Anthony Arjes, John Joyce, and Jaoquin Palacios were recognized for their outstanding service and leadership as they worked extra hard to put up all the Christmas Lights in town, responded to many service calls, and installed lights into the newly constructed barn at Salt Fork for the month of December. After several public hearings the City Council approved modifications to the Hotel and Motel Tax Occupancy ordinance. Traditionally the application process for these funds went through an appointed board. Moving forward the Council will instead consider all applications submitted for HOT Funds. The final ordinance will be approved at the January 2023 Council Meeting. The City Council then approved Resolution Number 1537 regarding Taxing Goods in Transit. This tax allows the city to collect taxes on goods that are being transported from the purchaser from the seller. After closed session the council appointed Debbie Gillispie to fill City Council Place three and selected four highly qualified candidates to interview for the position of City Secretary in January. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Saturday, January 28th @ 7pm

This wildly entertaining film has it all: non-stop action, exotic locations, grand spectacle, a hero for the ages, despicable villains, a beautiful love interest, humor, horror… not to mention lots of snakes. And along with all the bits that are so familiar by now--Indy (Harrison Ford) running from the giant boulder in a cave, using his pistol instead of his trusty whip to take out a scimitar-wielding bad guy, facing off with a hissing cobra, and on and on!
