City Hall Illuminated Pink & Purple for the Month of October

Throughout the month of October, San Luis City Hall and the San Luis Police Department will be illuminated pink and purple in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

This October, the City of San Luis is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer for women in the United States and remains the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women.

October is also National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men, will experience severe physical and emotional violence by an intimate partner. The City of San Luis is proud to take a stand against domestic violence and bring awareness to this social issue.

“We will continue to support breast cancer patients and survivors as well as domestic violence victims by bringing awareness to these health and social issues,” stated Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “The City of San Luis will continue to work with local organizations and community members to assure everyone that there is help and support for anyone who needs it,” he concluded.
